About Bellingham, MA
Bellingham is approximately 31 miles southwest of Boston along 495 near the Rhode Island border. The town was named after the third governor of the colony of Massachusetts Bay, a Puritan lawyer, Sir Richard Bellingham. It is a vibrant community with a mix of retail, industrial, and major distribution centers that grew out of aggressive development in the 1990s. This has helped Bellingham to keep residential tax rates modest yet provide some of the best town services in the area. The town is close to the Franklin commuter rail service into Boston, which has made it an attractive location. The town follows an open Town Meeting government format with five members on the Board of Selectmen. Bellingham High School is the local high school.
